The Pagan Experience 2015

Humanity (The Pagan Experience)

Topic for the week: Humanity- How do you define “humanity”? What is your contribution to the collective space of humanity? How does your spiritual path support this definition and contributions?

How do you define “humanity”.

Ahh, humanity. What an interesting topic for The Pagan Experience. I’m going to put it out there – as a collective, we humans as a species are pretty messed up. We’re possibly the only species on this planet that needlessly adapts the world us to our needs, opposed to adapting within and with the planet.

I wrote this nice big spiel on humanity. Then I stopped, read through it, and deleted it. It was negative, it was accusational, and it was more of a pissed off rant at all the stupid people in power who are allowed to reign over those of us who actually want change, but our cries are falling on deaf ears.

Instead, as an Australian, I want to take this opportunity to apologise to the world on behalf of those of us stuck here hating our current government and his imbecilic acts, bringing our country down, and making us all look like idiots who don’t care. We do. We care for our environment, we care for our citizens, we care about our country and our land as a collective. But for some stupid reason a man who’s party is all about business and money, and making more money at the cost of our citizens, our health, our education, and our land got into a position of power and is fucking everything up.

What is your contribution to the collective space of humanity?

I’m alive. I work in construction so I’m a small part of assisting with the development of infrastructure. I’m studying part time Environmental Health with the hopes of being an Environmental Health Officer within construction, so I can do a more earth-friendly and conscious-friendly role within the industry. I love learning, I’m so bored when I’m not learning something.

At the moment it’s more aspects of my current role at work, the uni degree, the hopes of doing a double degree, Avalonian Witchcraft, The Wild Hunt (which I keep calling ‘The Great Hunt’ for some reason…) and of course Arianrhod and her role in my studies of Avalonian Witchcraft. I’m a mother to 8 cats (four inside, four strays outside who have claimed us as their source of food.) I’m a wife (housewife, breadwinner, cook, cleaner, annoyance, pesterer, nagger) and goddess in the bedroom!

How does your spiritual path support this definition and contributions?

As much as I dislike the human species as a collective because we’re such a destructive bunch (says me who works in construction…) we are but a small speck in the life of this planet, and when we are gone the Mother will reclaim the destruction that we have wrought and right the wrongs of our species.

My path is an eclectic mixture of so many different learnings and paths that I am adapted to make my own. Yes, I’m one of those Pagans. I’m studying what I’m studying at university so I can try to make a more positive impact and a more environmental understanding of the construction world.

I’m a Daughter of a Hunter, who understands that sacrifices must be made so that others may prosper. I honour Sovereignty, the spirit and essence of the land, who knows that nothing is forever. The world changes, humanity changes, and the world changes again.

One day, it will change back because humanity will be no more, and the earth can breathe a sigh of relief.
