Around the Cauldron

Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award

Thank-you Letitia from SpinningWebs.com for this nomination! I’ve been asked to vlog it but uni, work, too many things I need to do and I’m too perfectionist when it comes to making videos!

QUESTIONS

What is your passion in life?
My life passions have changed over time. These days my passions are my family – my Muggle and our ten cats, my faith, my uni work, and all forms of study. Finding ways of bettering myself and finding balance.

If you could live or visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
If I could live anywhere, it would be Anglesea in Victoria. Alas, I don’t have the money to afford the insane prices the homes fetch that way, so it shall remain a dream. To visit, it would be the UK and Ireland, and the Netherlands. I want to see the lands of my ancestors. Next year I’m planning on ticking one place off my bucket list – visiting Uluru and going on guided tours and learning as much as I can in the short time that I am there.

What is your biggest regret in life so far?
I could answer this, but the answer won’t be completely true. While my answer is a pain in my arse, while I regret the circumstances of my answer, I don’t regret the path that lead me to this place. With every awful moment that has lead to my answer, many happy moments have come from the same path.

Do you believe in God / Goddess or a higher power?
Absolutely! Herne is my Patron, my Father, Brother and Teacher. I believe in many Goddesses by their many names. That’s the main inspiration for this blog, after all!

If you had the power to fix just one of the world’s problems, what would it be?
Culling all the stupid people who believe in greed, who believe the destruction of the planet is beneficial as it puts a number in their bank account. They cannot eat money when all the fish and crops are gone.

Describe your most treasured memory.
I’m really glad I’m not vlogging this because I’d no doubt be crying talking about it. I’ve even answered this last because it brings back memories. I have a few favourites – the day I initiated myself to the Craft, the last day I got to spend with Poppy Kook, hearing Herne’s call, meeting then marrying my Muggle. In March this year I drove down to Victoria through the night to see my family as my Pop wasn’t well. In those few days I got to see him and Nanna in the same room together for the last time. I saw my Nan burst into tears because she knew what was happening, and then my uncle drove Pop back to palliative care in a Ford GT Mustang (he later said he’d rather it have been a Falcon! I come from a car loving family…) The next day I saw him for the very last time. It was just me and him, sitting in his room, talking about the family history and how he got to a certain Smith from Scotland and gave up because it got too hard. He made comments about me taking over, and some beautiful comments I’d much rather keep to myself. At his funeral I kept telling myself it wasn’t real, that it was all just a dream and that he wasn’t really in the box up the front. I finally accepted it when I heard him crying to my Nan at his grave site. Poppy Keith was pretty damn amazing.

Cats or Dogs? and why
Cats! I’ve always been a cat person. We currently have 10 – five inside (Charlie, Pirate, Gotham, Augie and Oliver), and five outside (Caspar and Ginge are registered to us, Foxy, Smudge and Joey are yet to be).

Are you a morning or a night person?
Morning. I’ve had to become a morning person because I begin work at 7am, so up at 5am and in bed by 9.30.

If you could meet your 13-year-old self, as you are now, what advice would you give her?
To hang on, to understand that every battle will be won, and that she’ll always be a Hanson fan. More importantly, it gets better.

If you had the chance to be granted immortality, would you take it?
No. I don’t want to live forever. If I did have the chance, I’d like to take it with the promise of being able to make the world better – to ensure I could inspire a small handful of people over the generations, and they in turn would inspire others.
